I'm trying to upgrade from 'SQL Server/10.0.2/P/ICL s-series Server/NX V7MPlus/1/OPT/Tue Feb 21 17:11:47 MET 1995' to 'SQL Server/11.0.3.3/P/Sunsvr4/OS 5.4/SWR 7934 Rollup/OPT/Sun May 31 23:28:44 PDT 1998 ' In Sybase 10, both 'Program 1' and 'Program 2' work fine. However, when I run these 2 programs using Sybase 11, the return results are different. I wonder is this a bug or an impact of Y2K solutions or??? Below are the codes that I use in my C programs, running on Sybase 11: In 'Program 1', when I declared hghh as 2 char, the return result is: 11Sep 30 1998 11:10AM ^ No null termination after the first two bytes. So what is allocated in memory after this string is also being picked up. However, when I declared hghh as 3 char, the return result is: 11 which is what I expect to receive This is standard C. Always allocate one more byte in your string length to hold the null byte terminator.
I wonder why it works in Sybase 10? Obviously it would have to have been zeroing the rest of the memory used for the allocated strings. C doesn't make any assumptions about these sorts of things, prefering to leave it up to the compiler implimentation. You could have exposed the problem on that platform as well by declaring strings of the correct length and not null terminating them. I would guess a length of 4 or 8 bytes would do it. I would recommend a product like Purify that is quite suitable for locating these and other sorts of bugs/problems in C programs.
I not sure of the name of the company that markets it now. Last I heard it was called Pure/Atria. A web search should find it. Subject: End Of Life Notification for Open Client/C Dev. Kit 11.1.1 and Open Server 11.1.1 November 13, 2001 Dear Valued Sybase Customer: This letter provides notification of an extension of a previously announced end of engineering support. The end of engineering support has been extended from December 31, 2001 to September 30, 2002 for the following versions of Sybase products.
Product Version Platform End of Migration Path Engineering Support Open Client/C 11.1.1. We are using Oracle 8x as our db. Our datawindow selects and updates are completed via stored procs.
Does this make them a jag MASP client - If so, if we switch from using the Oracle native drivers to ODBC - do we have to configure Open Client? (there is a bit of a write up about this on p. 48 of Installation Guide sent with PB 7 but I don't know if it applies to non-sybase dbs) - Jenine Serviolo 757.865.8440 x116 MASP refers to the way the client talks to Jaguar, it has nothing to do with database access that the server or components may make. You need Open Clie. Hi all, When have and application that works with Sybase Adaptive Server.
This application uses Direct Connection Open Client 11.1.1 to connect to the database and alternatively Microsoft SQL Server ODBC driver 6.5. We have traced the problem and we know that when the application opens a second cursor in the same transaction and that the first one is not closed then we have an error. The problem is that with a Microsoft SQL Server ODBC driver 6.5 everything works fine. If you have any clue, please let me know, Thank You Jeff.
I am trying to get the Novell Client installed and running on a couple of Open Suse 11.4 machines. Has anyone had any success getting this running?
Novell-client-2.0-sp2-sle11-i586.iso I have downloaded the file as an ISO from the Novell Downloads, but I cannot get it to install. I have downloaded the Version 11 as per the file name above. I keep getting one dependency after another when trying to install. Any help appreciated. Kind regards Matthew - GOONER23 - On 2011-06-22 08:36, G.
We're running ASE 11.9 with clients using a Power Builder app. The clients are geographically dispersed (up to about 1,000 miles away), so we'd like to automate the distribution and installation of Open Client. I'm sure this is a situation that comes up often, so I wanted to see what soluations are out there that work.
Can anybody tell me what's the best way of automating the distribution, installation and configuration process? Learning Sybase C API from web documents and came across this link: Basically 'Open ClientConnect is no longer offered by Sybase'. What does this mean wrt ct library calls?

Hello, I need to open the default mail client on a client machine once he hits a button (or link) on UI. The mail client must be populated with default info (from, to, bcc, cc, sub, body, priority). I understand that two approaches are 1. Using Mailto: (but with limitations like Cant use a FROM field, Cant set Priority, Mail Size limitation) - Hence cant use this 2. Using MAPI (but the code I have opens outlook on server rather than client machine) Can someone help with MAPI code that opens outlook on client machine?
Hello all I'm sure someone here knows the solution to my problem.I hope that somebody is quick:) I'm running SQL Server 11.03 on the same machine as PowerDynamo 2.0. PD uses Open Client 11.1, so I have to install that after I've installed the database engine. In a recent tech support call, I was informed that SQL Server 11.03 would utilize OC11.1, but when I try to configure it that way, the database engine doesn't start. I appologize for the smaller quantity of information.
I'm just coming back to this problem after a month working on more pressing i. I asked for a copy of Open Client 11.1.1 for HP-UX 11. I got a cd with the catalog number marked as follows: SYBASE Products for HP 9000/800 Cat# Ver Product 17230 11.1.1 Open Client/C Developer's Kit The Release Bulletin for this product is dated 9/9/97 and inside it says that product supports HP 9000/800 HP-UX 10.0.1. I need to do use pthreads, which were introduced in HP-UX 11. Do I have the right version of Open Client? What is the right catalog or SKU number to get the HP-UX 11 version of Open Client/C 11.1.1? - Dave On Thu, 1 Ju.
I have a problem that I hope someone can help me solve. I'm developing asp-pages on a Windows NT 4.0 workstation with MS Visual InterDev 6.0 and I'm trying to connect to a Sybase database located on a unix server (HP-UX 10).
